Many years ago, I had the opportunity to visit one of the most amazing and exotic islands in the Caribbean, Mona Island. I had been wanting to go for a long time and my grandfather let me tag along on his Boy Scouts' trip. When we arrived at Mona, after five or six hours at sea, I found this huge rock right by the dock. A closer look revealed this tiny hermit crab, climbing with complete determination. There were tons of other hermit crabs living in this rock, but they were all hiding in their shells, tucked away in the rock's "caves." Honestly, I felt love for that little crab! I wanted to cheer him on saying, "Climb on, little crab, climb on! You can do it!" I thought that if I, being human, could feel that towards this tiny crustacean, how much more love would God feel for me!
I have felt like that little crab many times, like I am fighting as hard as I can to climb, to reach my goals, even when the easiest thing would be to hide in my cave and not come out of my shell. Sometimes it's a lonely process, but I know that if I try, even if I fail, God will sustain me. My desire was to help that crab go even higher because I saw the effort he was doing. I think that in the same way, God sees our efforts and encourages us and provides resources to help us reach our destiny. Don't give up, don't stay in the safety of the caves, dare to climb higher. Maybe there's a wonderful view waiting for you at the top.
